Lets Get CAMPY!
Bug Spray Not Required
So, we’re not putting up tents and heading into the woods, but, we’re throwing on our best aloha style camp collar shirts and hitting the streets. With in roots in the 1950s, the camp collar shirt has re-emerged as one of the biggest fashion trends of the last three years.
Worn by modern style icons like Jeff Goldblum, Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller, the camp collar shirt is a hit that can often skew on the side of novelty. To curb the ill-fitting dad-resortwear-vibe, we’ve put together two ways to style this slightly polarizing yet always fun shirt this summer.
Look One: Denim + Color Block Loafers
Tropical Print Shirt – Goodfellow & Co (available via Target) | Larson Color Block Penny Loafer – G.H. Bass | Pinky Rings – David Yurman | Marlin Watch — Timex + Todd Snyder
With its vintage origins, the camp collar shirt pair well with other vintage-style elements. Obviously, the goal is to not rock a costume, but, to pay homage to the era. To pull this off, pair this shirt with elements like:
- A smaller, low-profile leather band watch
- A color-blocked loafer
- thicker framed black frames
An easy way to make this look more modern is to pair it with a black or white jean with a cut off hem. The DIY-vibe breaks up the streamline nature of the look.
Bonus Tip
Roll up your sleeves. James Dean vibes for the win!
