If you haven’t visited Rothmans in New York, you’re missing out on nearly 100 years of menswear legacy.
As one of the few independently owned specialty menswear stores in New York, Rothmans has continued to evolve with the ever-changing retail landscape while staying rooted in expert service, sharp tailoring and a true point of view.
The multi-generational brand was named Best Men’s Store in America by MR Magazine, and for good reason. From in-store tailoring and suiting to elevated sportswear and the Rothmans Next section, the store covers every menswear need with an expertly curated selection.

This wasn’t my first time visiting Rothmans New York — Union Square. Years ago, I had the opportunity to co-host an event there with Zodiac Watches alongside my homies Denny and Mustafa. Since then, I’ve continued following the store and keeping up with owners Ken and Jim Giddon — especially during trade show season.
Known for their longstanding reputation in suiting and in-house tailoring, the energy during my recent visit was impressive to witness firsthand. At one point, there were at least 10 men being fitted for suits — everything from wedding looks and first suits to longtime returning clients. For the suit lover, Rothmans carries brand like – Canali, L.B.M, Jack Victor & Paul Bentley (with many more).
Even though I was there to shop and create content, I found myself becoming more of an observer, taking in the interactions between the staff and customers. Honestly, it felt less like a retail store and more like family being welcomed into a home. The level of attention to detail throughout the fitting and service process stood out immediately.
Watching that kind of care happen in real time — especially in today’s fast-paced retail environment — was genuinely refreshing.

Rothmans NEXT

Located on the lower level of the store is Rothmans NEXT — a dedicated space focused on emerging and contemporary brands that blur the lines between tailored menswear and modern sportswear.
One of my personal favorites, Les Deux, is part of the curated mix, alongside brands like Mason Cruz, Kuwalla, Marine Layer and more — all helping bring a fresh perspective to the in-store experience.
What stood out most to me was watching Rothmans confidently step into this new era of menswear while still honoring its nearly 100-year heritage in tailoring. That balance between evolution and tradition is a true testament to why the brand has remained relevant for generations.

If you’re in NYC, be sure to drop by their Union Square location – 222 Park Avenue South, NY, NY 10003.
