I’ve partnered with Timberland to a brief style story about my love affair of the iconic 10061 boot.
6 Inch “Yellow” Wheat Nubuck 10061 Boots – Timberland | Black Jeans – 7FAM | Suede Jacket – Beckett Simonon | Sunglasses – Suitsupply
Growing up in North Philadelphia we called this these yellow Timberland boots, “Buttas”. The affectionate nickname describes their golden color and it’s an even better descriptor of the plush nubuck material. Everyone I knew had a pair, but, I became enamored with them the first I saw my older brother wearing a pair. Classic big brother = style icon.
Around the age of 13, I got my first pair — after saving up some money from my barbershop job where I swept-up hair and kept the shop clean (occasionally washing a few heads too). Once I got them, I wore them with everything. As a right of style passage, I learned quickly to keep an eraser brush on hand to get rid of any scuffs & marks.
Color Style Tip
The dark contrast is a great intro for anyone rocking this colorway — so grab up a pair of dark jeans. However; because of the light but warmer yellow color, a pair of washed denim can work as well (see look below).

6 Inch “Yellow” Wheat Nubuck 10061 Boots – Timberland | Khaki & Camel Souvenir Jacket – Topman | Distressed Jeans – Gap | Waterbury Watch – Todd Snyder x Timex
Mixing sportswear with the 10061 boots has been a hallmark of my style since my teenage years. One of my prized style possession that I wore constantly with my Timbs was a green Philadelphia Eagles starter jacket. There’s something harmonious about the ruggedness of these boots with the satin finish of a sporty jacket.
My old Philadelphia Eagles jacket was on the puffier-side, so now I’ve upgrade to the tailored and highly popular souvenir jacket. Instead of going the obvious sporty route and rocking sneakers with this jacket, these classic boots add a much welcomed streetwear vibe that authentic and not contrived.
