Founder & Creative Director of Men's Style Pro, Sabir has…
As I mentioned in the Bally Weekender Bag piece, we attended the menswear trade show, Pitti Uomo 84 in Florence Italy this past June. During the four-day event, buyers, editors & bloggers converge on the menswear mecca at the Fortezza da Basso to get the first glimpse for the S/S 14 lines of many of our favorite and some new brands. Part of the allure of Pitti is running into some of the menswear all-stars (or at least those dudes that you troll the internet for to peep their steez) like Nick Wooster, Scott Schuman and Lino Ieluzzi just to name a few.
After meeting those dudes you can refocus and get down to the matter at hand, getting the details on the clothing lines for next year. One of the most surreal experiences about these trade shows is the opportunity to meet the designers and pick their brains for a bit. Hearing the ideas and inspiration coming directly from the people that we know because their names are often stitch onto our garment labels is something like listening to someone speak about their children that they are so proud of.
Beside guys walking around peacocking for the cameras, Pitti is a place that really made for artist. The displays that many of the clothing brands use are nothing short of an artist landscape. The visual art of the atmosphere infused itself into this year’s theme, Pitti Zroommm!! You’ll see from the video about and some of the images below the abundance of retro motorcycles throughout the Fortezza. Brands like G-Star Raw really complemented the Zroommm theme with their raw black & indigo denim, horse & boating racing paraphernalia strategically placed about their exhibit. Below is a chronicle of our visit to the trade show better known as Pitti Uomo (all shot by Marina T. Peele).
