[dropcap size=big]A[/dropcap]s you may have read, I’m getting back into the swing of things as a runner after a long hiatus from competition. I know I’m not prepping the be the next Emil Zátopek because I despise hardcore distance running, but, I do like to run fast, train hard & look good while doing it.

For this test run, adidas gave me the opportunity to try out their much acclaimed AlphaBounce AMS sneakers. To get a real feel for their responsiveness, the streets of Philly became my personal combine.

For a few months, I was toying around with the idea getting a pair of AlphaBounce’s because their overall aesthetic resembled a more refined pair of Yeezy’s, while having true athletic qualities. As someone who values getting the most out of their gear, what drew me to these kicks was their street style & athleisure appeal.

Instead of taking time to break-in these sneakers before testing them on the streets, this feature was shot straight out the box.

The AlphaBounce Review

  • The Fit Is Superb: often with most running shoes, you’ll find a fit that too slim or too cumbersome! This isn’t the case here. With a sock-like fit & slightly higher rise at the heel cup, this is a sneaker that feels like it’s made custom for you
  • Responsiveness Is Key: this is where the BOUNCE™ technology gets solid marks. During this test run, there was a fair amount of plyometric jumping, sprinting up several sets of stairs and the most aggressive turns at the drop of a dime – all of which were met without a thought & with extreme comfort. If you’re looking for a running shoe that you can cross-train in, these might be right up your alley
  • Technically Fit FORGEMESH Upper: the FORGEMESH upper is another of Adidas’ technologies that offers a rigid yet flexible upper that moves the way you move. As someone who works out in shifting terrain with varying training styles (plyometrics, HIIT, sprints & low mileage distance running), this level of responsive-flexibility is ideal for any type of multi-sport athlete
  • Look & Style: with today’s athleisure culture, this is the type of sneaker that appeals to the sneakerhead, weekend athlete and pro alike. With the neutral clear grey & onix colorway, this pair of AlphaBounce’s is the most versatile in the collection.

The AlphaBounce AMS gets high marks for style, fit, responsive & aesthetics, however; my only issue is that it could be more flexible in the toe box/ball of the foot area. Overtime, I expect that area to break in more, however; initially, that portion of the shoe wasn’t as flexible.
