And, it’s gotten me through the beginning of this balmy early fall ever-so lightly!

The leaves are changing, but, it’s still hot has hell. And, now you’re stylistically confused! September typically signals the time for everyone to pack away their shorts, lightweight suits and reach for their flannel shirts & puffer vests — but, in reality your summer duds can pull double duty through early November. That’s why I’m still rocking this linen suit with total disregard to the date on the calendar.
Why Does This Suit Work For The Fall
It’s all about texture. Fall fabrics like tweed, flannel and corduroy all have one thing in common — rugged texture. A linen suit has that same rugged quality, however; you’ll need to consider a rich color to offset the light nature of the fabric. This khaki color (or what I’m calling sand) is as light as you want to go during these early autumn months.
Once you step in to stone or light grey, the color ventures on the side of summer wedding and less office-ready.
Autumn Up This Suit
The quickest way to move this suit’s color palette into fall is by adding slightly darker shirt – think navy stripe/gingham or forest green. Stick with knit ties to complement the texture of the fabric.
Screw The Rules

As many times as you hear “break the rules” when it comes to style, especially when it comes to wearing white after Labor Day — understanding how to make that “broken” rule work is crucial. Personally, I wear white pants year-round, however; during the fall months (weather-depending) I swap my white chinos for white denim.
The rich tan of the complements the white jeans — while blending well with the changing colors of fall. To make this look work, add a pair of suede Oxfords for loafers in a snuff brown to capture the essence of early fall/late summer.
