A day at the office in your tan corduroy suit will change your life as the weather creeps onto the chilly side. Besides being the warmest person traveling during your morning commute to the office, when every other guys is wearing the same charcoal wool suit they wear every day, you’ll be adding some old school cool to the workplace. There are a few key factors you should follow to help you execute the perfect office look while donning a corduroy suit.
Striking the right cord at the office
- Know Your Wale: this refers to the ridges on your suit. You’ll want a thin wale corduroy suit, which means the jacket has 16 cords per inch and the matching pant are 11 cords per inch. This will keep the look of the suit modern and cause less thigh friction (stay forest fire free)
- Shirt Selection: The same color palette you were wearing this summer with your tan khaki suit apply here as well
- Ties: A textured fabric like corduroy demands a textured tie like a knit (wool, cotton, silk) or that of the textured wool and/or cotton variety. Save your flat silk ties for the warmer months
- Cuffs: A thin wale pant needs a cuff for added weight. Otherwise, the bottom of your pant legs would billow in the wind
