Because Fall Means Beefier Suits

It’s cool enough in the morning for heavier weight fabrics & you can get away without light layering without passing out. Recently, I popped over to Suitsupply on Locust street in Philly to pick up a suit from their new fall collection. Because I’m a sucker for a toothy kit, I went their unlined brown houndstooth wool suit from their Havana line.
This post features two ways to style this suit and a review of the fabric.

First, let’s talk specs:

Let’s talk about why I was drawn to this suit. It’s essentially the luxe version of that vintage tweed suit that you coveted from those classic IVY Style photos. With a brown houndstooth base, this suit is a blank canvas for styling. Even with its casual details: soft shoulder, patch pockets & notch lapel, this classic suit is still all business.
As someone, that loves to push the limits over not wearing a coat as it gets cooler, this is the type of suit that you can layer up with vest or sweater and be nice and toasty into late fall.
Booting Up For The Office
Pulling off boots with a suit is difficult enough unless you’re a British rock star. However; because of the weight of the fabric, adding a sleek leather boot to this kit gives a badass, yet, polished vibe. So, give it a try just make sure you keep a high shine on your footwear.

Besides warmth (which is key), the number two reason to purchase a suit like this is its versatility. With a visible texture and casual details, the jacket can be as a separate worn with jeans, joggers and of course suit pants. Now, you may be asking, is it okay to wear this jacket with distressed (seen in this look)? Yes, you can do whatever the hell you want (they’re your clothes).
Ok, here’s a more style defined answer to why this look works. The texture of the jacket fabric is a perfect complement to denim and adding this jacket to such a distressed pair of jeans refines the look. Keeping the boots from the original look, the overall vibe becomes polished with an edgy twist.
Unlined & Draped
Wool is a living fabric, meaning that as you wear it it will mold to your body as you wear. The beauty of this jacket is that it’s unlined, so it drapes to the exact shape of your body and over time can become a second skin.
