No matter how you spell it, gray or grey is quite possibly the most versatile color in your wardrobe (especially in your business attire). Grey often falls into the trap of only being paired with black leather shoes and white shirts, however; the range of colors that complement grey are seemingly endless. The lighter end of the grey color spectrum is the way to go for the most versatility. If possible invest in a three-piece grey suit in wool or a donegal (which would be reserved for the colder months). Below are three looks for a bit of grey inspiration.
Style Tips
- Corporate blue, pink and lavender are three complementary shirt colors that will really pop against a grey suit.
- Break up the pieces of your three-piece suit for more versatility.
- Don’t be afraid to pair brown or tan leather with your grey ensemble.
- Don’t forget that a classic black shoe always works.
- Skip the completely tailored look and throw on a varsity jacket or cardigan in a bold color.
- Mixing a blazer and waist coat from another suit with the grey trousers is a fun and smart combination.
- Socks!! Mix it up. Bold colors and patterns are appropriate with grey trousers. If you want to stay conservative, opt for solid grey socks.

Is the black silk knit tie in the first look from the tie bar?
Hi Jose,
That tie is by Club Room for Macy’s.

I love the way the blue socks balance the suit on suit combination.
Those are great indo suits by the way, great work!
Great post. Love my gray suit with brown shoes, really makes the outfit pop.
Great article. Gray is always an underrated color. I remember trying to convince a customer (at my job) that anything will go with this gray blazer – still didn’t stop her from looking at every shirt in the store, haha.

Hello sir. Has anyone said anything about not being able to see your images before? I’m on a Mac, using Mozilla, and I never see your images. Not complaining, just letting you know in case others have said as much.
Godbless.

Hi Kiel,
I’ve never heard that from anyone and I am sorry to hear that. Have you tried IE or Google Chrome?

Hello,
What style lapel did you select for your grey 3 piece? Notch or peak?
Hi Jeff,
I actually only have the waist coat and trousers, however; I am a peak lapel guy in general.
Best,
Sabir
Hey Sabir,
Just out of curiosity, what size was the varsity jacket from H&M?
Hi Dylan,
The jacket is a medium.

Hi Sabir, is there anyw ay you could have requested a “U” shaped navy vest from Indochino as opposed to the “V” shape that you’re wearing? I much prefer the grey “U” shaped vest you have in this post.
Hi Arun,
Just like when you make the customization to your trousers/blazers in their system, when you are on the vest page and selecting the details, you will see a silver button that says, MORE OPTIONS. You’ll be able to select the U Shape.

Sabir! Mad respect for what you’ve got going on. There is photo of you with a 3 piece navy suit, double pocket on the right side of the blazer, blue/white striped shirt, blood red pocket stuffer and brown shades. My question is what kind of tie are you wearing in that photo? It looks like denim with navy stripes? who makes it? Ive got a navy colored suit just like it and ive been looking for combinations to wear with it.
