These aren’t your little brother’s, hacky-sacking, skateboard grinding, on the verge of almost “McHammer-ing” cargo pants. 2012 will be the year of the slimmed-down, non-ballooning pockets cargo pants that men can wear. Before trying them on myself, I was a bit skeptical of the style and fit. Thinking back to my teen years in 90’s, most of my cargo pants had pockets that were so large, I could stash my entire lunch so that I could snack during class. With brands like Gant by Michael Bastian, Uniqlo and Onassis Clothing taking a well polished stab at modernizing the cargo pant for their recent collections, I decided to style a couple of slim-fit cargo pant looks with the help of Onassis Clothing.
Keeping it casual

Olive Slim Fit Cargo Pants by Onassis Clothing (On Sale for $35 in 3 Colors) – Knit Cardigan by Banana Republic – Vintage Denim Jacket by Levi’s – Chambray Shirt by J.Crew
Boots by Asos
Jacquard Pattern Socks by Zara (On Sale Now for $4.99)
Slim fit cargo pants walk a line of extremely casual to somewhat business casual. Going with the army green color, you will have the option of making your outfit a bit more rugged. A denim jacket, leather boots and even a cardigan can be paired with these cargo pants to keep the look relaxed. If you want this look to be a bit more relaxed, nix the cardigan and chambray shirt for a henley or V-neck t-shirt.
Tips:
- Don’t over think your outfit
- Use the cargo pockets, but don’t go overboard with the amount of “contraband” you stash in there.
- Mix dressy and casual pieces with these cargo pants.
Dress it up
Navy Slim Fit Cargo Pant by Onassis Clothing (On Sale for $35) – Cabarris Penny Loafer by Johnston & Murphy – Lavender Argyle Socks by Banana Republic
Throw on a well-tailored blazer, knit tie and some loafers to dress up your slim fit cargo pants. Instead of going with a silk blend blazer, opt for a cotton or wool blend because the textures complement chinos perfectly. If you have spent anytime trolling the internet in search Italian menswear, you may have come across the brand Brunello Cucinelli. Cucinelli is the king of mixing cargo pants, tailored blazers and dress shirts. This particular look isn’t for everyone; however, there is no time like the present to mix your style up a bit. Give the look a try. In the end, you will have a few more options in ways to style your cargo pants.

Yup , I will be copping these . I would normally be afraid of cargos being between 38 – 40 waist , but these are a nice cut , and I like the fact they can be dressed up
Hi Derrick,
Thanks for dropping by. As you can tell, I am a huge fan of these cargo pants. It is difficult when thinking about old school cargos, to find comfort in the fact that they could be slimmed down while still being cool. Grab a pair or two!
Best,
Sabir
I loved both looks, You made showing how to wear cargo pants look easy.
Thanks Isaiah,
Also, I didn’t forget about your feature. I’ve been super busy. I will get everything over to you asap.

Nice feature Sabir. What size are you normally and did you have to go up with these cargo? I recently bought some slim fit Dockers and went up to 36 in order to get a size I was comfortable with. The first look is my favorite.
Hi Barney,
I actually went down a size in these particular cargos. I’ve come to the realization that this fit is just better for my body.
Best,
Sabir
I love the content Sabir. What brand of sunglasses are you wearing?
Matthew,
I picked these up via ebay in a random ebay store. If I find the link I will repost it. Thanks for reading.

Hi Sabir:
I noticed that you cuff your cargos. Now are they a tailored cuff or just rolled?
Also, how comfortable are those ASOS boots?
Hi Jonathan,
The cuffs on these pants are done by hand, no tailoring. The Asos boats were around $50 when I purchased them.

Where are the sunglasses from?
where can i buy those cargos. It would also be nice if you could give the link to the page and website.
Hi Ammar,
These cargos are from Onassis Clothing http://www.OnassisClothing.com. Right now, there site is under remodel, however; you can call them to see if they have of the cargos in stock.

Sabir
those navy cargo pants have no hem correct or they’re pinned? I’m trying to see how they drape over the loafers and can’t tell if they’re too skinny tapered pre-hem to drape over the loafer.
