The M65 Jacket: A Military Staple for the Colder Months

For this look, I decided to keep the M65 in a casually refined kit, piling up some layers and textures for the increasingly chilly weather. A great thing about the color of this jacket is the fact that it works perfectly with my color palette of light and dark blues, tans, whites, and browns; the olive of the jacket fits with this classic color scheme. A popped collar is one of the most underrated ways to stay warm in the winter, especially if your collar is a soft oxford fabric. I flipped mine up under the soft cashmere/merino shawl collar of my knit for a perfectly insulated neck. When it comes down to it, the goal of this outfit was comfort and warmth, but those objectives shouldn’t take away from the overall appearance of the kit. When I’m standing outside my coffee shop in the cold, I still want eyes on me.

The M65 jacket is a perfect piece for layering in the colder months, and this model in particular, made by Alpha Industries, is as legitimate of an M65 as you’ll get. The great thing about the M65 is its versatility; it looks just as natural worn in the kit I styled as it would over top a tailored navy suit, a look I very much approve. Along with its versatility, the m65 is a jacket that’s made to take a beating, looking better with each wear. If you’re going to get a military inspired jacket, you might as well get the real deal. AI actually makes the coats that are used by our Army and Marines, so you know you’re wearing a tough coat.
