Essential Footwear Just In Time For Bare Ankle Season
moisturize those ankles appropriately
As a kick off to my favorite season, Men’s Style Pro partnered with footwear brand Johnston & Murphy to showcase my two favorite low-top kicks to upgrade your shoe game. As far as essential footwear, the retro jogger and tassel loafers are a spring a cherry blossoms and seasonal allergies.

In a world inundated by minimal tennis sneakers, seeing a retro jogger hit the market is quite refreshing. If you’re the guy that only wear sneakers to workout but wants to cross over into the athleisure realm, this style will be a smart choice.
Why This Style Of Shoe Works For Any Guy
- With a familiar runner shape, the style isn’t a far stretch to wear. But, with its low-profile design, these sneakers can be worn with anything from a suit to pair of sweatpants
- The suede is water-resistant, which is crucial for the rainy season
- The grey colorway is neutral and extremely versatile
- The cognac leather details give these sneakers a luxe feel that you don’t typically get with running-style sneakers
Loafers & Linen
Besides sneakers, loafers are my number one choice for a spring footwear upgrade. When picking out these loafers, the handpainted detail stood out most. Typically, flat brown shoes have no real detail unless there’s a brogued or captoe feature — making for no real character. But that wasn’t the case with these loafers.
With the aged dip-dye tobacco colorway, these loafers add subtle personality to any look. Here’s a style tip, pair these loafers with other rich tones like brown, indigo or contrast them with white denim — you’ll love the way they complement each color.
