[tps_header]Recently, I had the opportunity to stay at Hotel Palomar (part of the Kimpton Boutique Hotels) in the Rittenhouse section of Philly. I used the HotelTonight application to book the hotel (download the app for iPhone & Android here http://bit.ly/1foY4XN. Use the code StylePro25 to get you started). The HotelTonight app will find some of the best deals on hotels in your area and you can book everything from your phone!
To be honest, Hotel Palomar isn’t a new spot for me, they have a restaurant bar on the ground level that I frequent from time to time, however; I’ve never has the pleasure of staying over night in the hotel. As someone who appreciates well crafted style, Hotel Palomar appeals to that side of my personal style aesthetic. The carpets have a chain link pattern that is carried throughout some of the bed, the elevators are embossed in gold and there are countless pieces of artwork display throughout the entire hotel.
When I walked in to the lobby, there was a wine happy hour for its patrons, that appear to happy every Friday (so, I will be returning). The check in attendant gave me an immediate room upgrade to the king bed and a few floors up (to the 6th). The feel of the entire hotel was urban swank. There was definitely the right mix of modern styling (see light fixtures, art and amenities) and classic Philadelphia elements (William Penn Busts, colonial art work and quotes from the Declaration of Independence embossed into the walls).
The fitness center is open 24 hours, and, the only reason I went in during my stay is because that’s where the ice machine is located (even though I like to work out). Morning after, I order room service and enjoy an amazing Old Bay version of an eggs Benedict that blew my mind. Overall, Hotel Palomar has the chic feeling of a lounge, but, all the upscale and expect trappings of the luxury hotel that it is. To see more images from my stay, check out #MSPTravel on instagram
