DISCLOSURE: I STYLED THE SEIKO ASTRON GPS SOLAR WATCH AS PART OF A SPONSORED POST FOR SOCIALSTARS #ASTRONELITE. ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN.
The Casual Suited Commuter
Astron GPS Timepiece – Seiko® (available online) || Custom Navy Suit – Indochino || Hoody Wind Breaker Jacket – Puma || Cable Knit Sweater – J.Crew || Striped Socks – Dragon Inside || White Neo Sneakers – Adidas Originals || Zebra Wood Troubador Headphones – LSTN Heaphones
A couple of months back, I did a feature on the Seiko® Astron GPS Timepiece. The goal of the original feature was set as a review of the watch (plus its many features) and to show that it could be styled in a professional manner. That professional look was a highly structured, navy, corduroy suit (also pair with a shirt & tie). Some readers, especially on the social media end were not feeling the styling choice the watch being paired with a straight suited look. The overwhelming response was that the timepiece was beautiful, but, would be interested seeing it pair slightly more casually.
Instead of going the completely casual route, think t-shirt & worn-in jeans, I styled two looks that were a play on tailored casualness. the first look is a casual layering take on the classic navy suit. The sporty nature of the wind breaker jacket complements the inherent sportiness of the metal Astron watch.
Blue, Brown & Grey
Astron GPS Timepiece – Seiko® || Grey Moto Jeans – Forever 21 || Demin Cutaway Collar Shirt – H&M || Custom Blue Donegal Waist Coat – Dragon Inside || Corduroy Jacket – Lands End || Karnes Captoe Boot – Johnston & Murphy (available online) || Brown Leather Slide Belt – J.Crew
If you look closely, you’ll notice the face of this version of the Astron watch is blue (there are several Astron watches in the collection). When putting together both looks, I was sure to keep in mind to pair complementary colors like brown, grey, navy and red. By pairing complementary colors with the watch, it no longer stands alone as the centerpiece of your look (actually it probably still does).
Style Tips
- Pair with complementary colors (depending on face/band color)
- This watch has a bit more weight that you average timepiece, so, rock a denim jacket, cable knit sweater or a at least something with a little bulk to balance the weight (even a sweat shirt)
- Keep your metals in the same family (when possible)
